Engine Fault Code

Hi Guys my names Paul and i am currently working out in Afghanistan.

How are you all, hope all is well.

I have a question if anyone can help me please.

I have a 2003 Navara diesel and i have just hooked up the diagnostic machine as the vehicle is playing me about something rotten.

The code i am getting is 0077 P7-F/INJ TIMG. can some one explain what the problem is and how i can best go about rectifying this problem.

Many Thanks

Paul

Re: Engine Fault Code

0077 no such code afaik. just remember the nissan codes only work with nissan readers. if using aftermarket readers you need to refer to its database on what the code means.

DTC 0707 P7?F/INJ TIMG FB fairly common fault. check fuel filter and also for an air being sucked in to the lines (check for air bubbles in fuel). if fuel is ok and no restriction on fuel system then most likely faulty injection pump.

Re: Engine Fault Code

A clogged fuel filter can trigger P7 code.

Re: Engine Fault Code

You can use a vinyl hose instead the one that is supply the fuel pump (coming from the fuel filter) then you can see if there are air bubbles while engine running , there should be none of course. .

Re: Engine Fault Code

Right i have changed the fuel filter checked for air bubbles using clear hosing all seemed ok also tried using a can and running the truck from that and again with clear hose still getting the engine warning light coming on.(should this re-set itself)
should my next port of call be the crank sensor ? If so where is it and how do i check it as in do i need to take a resistance reading from it.Does anybody have any ideas why the truck doesnt throw up the warning for 5-6 miles after its been standing all night but once it has been run it throws up warning straight away for the rest of the day. makes me think its still an air issue as the air moves back to the filter over the 12 hours during the night that its standing.
Any ideas would be gratefully recieved.

Re: Engine Fault Code

If fuel supply is not the problem next step is to check fuel return line for blockage, pump timing and if all okay rebuilt fuel pump.

Re: Engine Fault Code

Scrap what i said before about no air in the fuel.
Just checked with clear pipe and ther is definitley air coming with the fuel from the tank .
Any ideas about possible cause of air intake on the tank and is it a fairly easy job to take the tank off to check it out.
