Diesel problem

Hi guys

After some help again, try and keep this short, driving down the motorway, all of a sudden started losing power the revs kicking in and out seemed as though fuel starvation, i'm guessing because of the speed it was sucking the diesel through.

However once stopped, tried to start it nothing happening, if it was left for about 6 hours put the key in turn it over it fires up for a few seconds then nothing so it is using what ever fuel has drained through then stops. So it seems as though there maybe be a blockage or which ever, bottom line fuel not getting through. Put a new diesel filter on starter her up and the same thing. now i have looked at the " "How to" change a fuel pump on D22 (with pics)" by jono nice job on that by the way, so no problem there, a job i can do, but before i go in full steam ahead any idea what would be the problem and what i should be looking for. many thanks in advance...:smile2::walksmil

managed to get hold of this today, it is not exactly what was shown on the thread for cleaning the air flow sensor, but i am presuming it is the same stuff and will be ok to use, it does state it is for sensitive electronics and evaporates completely, if anyone give can give me an all clear on it, i will go ahead with it tomorrow cheers guys

Right new fuel filter is on
air filter is brand new
cleaned the maf sensor (very shinny and clean now, was a disgrace)
done pump the peddle etc
it has come back with 3 x 10 quick flashes and 1 x 10 slow flashes so i am guessing this is a 0000 code and after having check the list of codes on here that is telling me no self diagnostics results

so where to now

It isn't unknown for the EGR valve to break it's flap off and not cause a fault code but obviously it causes the engine to struggle to run, a blank will sort that.

As for the primer, it will be worth pumping it while someone else tries to start the engine. These primer bulbs have also been known to fail and let air in so if all else fails look to replace that as well.

So just an update, didn't get chance the other day, so today made myself a blanking plate, cleaned everything up, put it all back together with the old gasket, jumped in turn the key, couple of clunks big cloud a smoke out the back end (to be expected as not run for 3 months) started to tick over all the smoke cleared, all tickety boo, shall take for a run after and then get on to fixing the other jobs on her.......cheers again for the info, another motor up and running without expensive Nissan dealers

Well got out for the test drive and all seems great, no smoke what so ever, even when starting and all running good, one question though, do you need to put on a diagnostics system at a garage and have it all set up now, or is it just a case of leave it............:nerd2:

Diesel/Limp Mode

Hi Guys
So an update on the diesel limp mode at low revs
I put the can of engine cleaner through, did the long drive, got to the destination and hey presto it ticked over great.........for the first five mins........and back to limp mode.
I have also noticed at around about 80 mph accelerating, it seems to lose acceleration, it seems to coast for a bit, so i am thinking to go with the advice and change the fuel pressure regulator, does anyone have any links for this as where to order from.
I ask this as all other links for parts has worked out brilliant.
Many thanks in advance guys.

I assume you mean the Suction Control Valve rather than than fuel pressure regulator. When these fail they cause limp mode or stalling at idle, which seems to be the problem. Buy them from many places, I recommend pfjones, https://www.pfjones.co.uk/diesel-fuel-pumps-and-injectors.html
