insurance renewal

Hi all I just got my renewal from tescos and it has gone up 85 to 519 I'm sure I'm paying too much for a 50 year old, clean licence and maximum no claims. Does anybody know of insurance companies that do class 1 insurance. Cheers

One of the advantages of living on the island, my premium (54, clean license, 4 years ncb) is 270 from a local company. All the cars and the motorbike have been approx 50% less than mainland premiums

I am a bit older than you with a clean licence and maximum no claims, I couldn't find insurance less than 650.
We are paying for all those injury claim lawyers.

try the usual comparison sites for van insurance but cheapest I got was flux 50 13yrs NCB 420 fully comp, wife included on the policy be aware though it does stop you from being able to drive other vehicles as its commercial insurance NFU used to be very competitive but a bit dear now but worth a try in your area

Mud Tyres,Snorkle,Decat,EGR blanked, SMF conversion,Timing Chain conversion,Hard Pipes, proper horn, stainless custom side exit, trifold rear cover.

Had a major issue with insurance lately. Ours was up for renewal and had gone from ~600 to around 2000. No reason for it (11 years no claims, same details, etc), it just became extortionate. Kept looking around, and nagging our (now previous) insurer to explain the price hike.

Two days before it was due, we hopped on a comparison site and the same quote had two new options for ~550. Admiral was one, I think Gladiator was the other. Admiral is who we've gone with.

Still don't know why we ever got quoted so high but removing me from the insurance brought the costs down - I'm 23, though I am a class 1 HGV driver... Being under 25, it unfairly costs me considerably more. Being a professional driver, you'd think brings that it back down again but, most of the time, it doesn't.

TL;DR: look around, nag your insurer and see what you can get out of it. Where you live can play a big part and I don't suppose Crawley is a "cheap" area for insurance. We were basically told that prices have all gone up 10-20%.

True story.
When I first bought my D22, I informed my insurer of the change, being a 'commercial' they wouldn't touch it, also I wanted insurance quickly, comparison sites weren't really around then, so I went into town to a broker.
He recommended I go with Red Star it cost (from memory) about 215.
Next year the renewal came in at well over 2,500.
I called the broker who told me that this was quite a common occurrence with commercial vehicle insurance, they send out unrealistic renewals in the hope that the company secretary will just think, 'Oh well the van insurance is due, better pay it'.
I told the broker I was going elsewhere.
Having the time, I went online and found that the Post Office would insure me for about 230, PLUS after 3 months I would get 50 cashback so the actual cost was 180!
I bought their policy and waited for the documents.
When they arrived, I was absolutely astounded to see who the underwriter was?
RED STAR!
I was with them again, however the next year the renewal was unrealistic yet again, not quite as high but enough to make me change.
I have NO loyalty to insurers, the cheapest gets my business, after all they have NO loyalty to us!

I changed to tescos 5 years ago cause I use to be with vans r us there renewal price was 860 so I swap to tescos cause they quoted me 340. But over the last 4 years it crept up about 20 or 30. This year's renewal has jump up 85 !!!!
