Moving threads

I wish you would not meddle and move to technical as no one really reads there and getting an answer takes forever!, if it's such a problem asking these questions in navara chat maybe we should re-jig the forums and just have general model specific forums for all questions on that model..

It is a technical question so should be in that section. Original thread; D22 air con

Don't be so surprised when a misplaced thread is moved.

If everything was in the one general section the good information would be difficult to find and possibly lost. One of the best parts of this forum is the quality information that is easily found in the correct section. Have you actually tried the search function?

The way people use and view the forum is up to them, not everyone just looks in one place, some use the 'active topics' button at the top of the page to find what's new since their last visit.

You are making a massive assumption that the reason for slow responses in the tech. section is because no-one reads them. The reason is in my opinion because no one knows the answer or it is pretty obvious.

Edit: I've just created a new thread for this topic in the appropriate section.

From my experience people only go int technical threads looking for an answer no one gives their time up to go searching to give an answer, if we had more general specific model forums IE Landyzone and freelancer, defender, disco forums etc them anyone going in there to post or generally looking at their interested forum / specific vehicle forum will be mor inclined to answer all and any questions they can.

I've asked several questions in the technical d22 forum with scattered results for what should be easily answered questions for anyone in the know (obv no I or I wouldn't be asking) so either I'm right or the user base for this forum has very very small numbers..

I also don't grasp why someone thought it prudent to move a reply I made to my own moved thread and turn it into its own thread with a changed title? I think that's taking a mods privileges too far.

If that was the case, there wouldn't be any answers. We have quite a few members including myself that do browse through the forums looking to see if they can help. I could name quite a few.

Your thread was moved for a very good reason, one of them being that I know that particular section is checked by certain members that may be in a position to help browse that section regularly.

From my experience of those forums, they are very cliquish and a free-for all with members flaming and insulting each other. One of the favourite reply in some other forums is 'do a search'. You will not see a lot of that behaviour here. Our members will help if they can and will spend their time to explain themselves in plain English. As I have said to other members, this is not a Land Rover forum.

I think you are correct about the amount of active members, and the number of members with D22s will be dwindling so you will find yourself waiting longer for answers than say someone with a D40. As for the way the forum is laid out, it has evolved to the present state since 2006. The layout suits most and works fine, I cannot see any changes to suit one (new) member in anytime soon.

Not at all, this is a completely separate conversation from the thread it was moved from, in fact these posts are completely 'off topic' and non technical at all.

At the end of the day, the moderators function is to help the forum run efficiently to help the membership as a whole.

As you say no.s will dwindle so maybe ditching the technical assistance parts and just having specific models IE d22 and d40 etc would be more beneficial.
Yes there are a lot of dimwits on the Landyzone forum and they get a lot of the do a search responses given etc but the general layout of the forum works well and the responses can't be blamed on that..

No offence, but I have just read the thread in question re: air con, and have to say that I simply cannot understand the first line of the question so didn't go any further.
Personally I don't do text talk or other abbreviations, if it's not in plain English I can't be bothered.
Similarly I don't like change so keep it, as is.

Chris is right.

If you want answers to your questions you need to put the question in plain English with a reasonable attempt to use grammar and punctuation. Otherwise we haven't a clue what you are asking.

(although for those who state English is not their first language people will generally try harder to intertpret)

I really don't get what's not understandable in my other thread ? Ok there's a couple of miss types ( I'd right typos but you wouldn't get that would you) I think the question is plain and simple enough.

And if the catchment for this forum is low then making the model specific threads more general can only be advantageous.
