Instructions are pretty basic and looked a little more difficult than it turned out to be, however, I tried to do this on my own and when you come to fit the new hinges, because they are spring loaded I had to rest the tail on a box to get the angle to screw one side of the hinges, tad fiddly but not too bad.
The spring loaded hinges and the gas pumped arm, does make it far easier to open and doesn't fall like a rock now.
Once you have done this, the second one would be far easier and yes, very pleased with the result for less than a hundred notes (ex vat price). Wifey very very impressed and likes a lot!
Would it be possible taking some pictures or a video? Much appreciated. 😉

Hi All - I should have done pics during the change over but too cold and forgot! Attached are 3 pics of the hinge, and two of the gassed arm, plus a video of opening closing. Still quite heavy on the way up but a single finger, main advantage is on the drop.

Still haven't got round to ordering one of these, but have just been looking around the web, and have found one for just short of 100, including VAT & delivery.

Anyone had experience of the one sold by AutoStyling Truckman? http://www.autostylinguk.co.uk/produ...B/FPREARO.html

I know it's not much of a saving, but every little helps (No, I don't work for Tesco!)

That gas strut one wasn't that bad on the D40, then the silly clip that held it on broke, so that was another chunk of money wasted.

Annoyed now. Just getting round to ordering one of these, having been waiting until after Christmas, and now the price has jumped up to 95 plus delivery and VAT.

Best get it ordered before they go up any more!
