Exclamation ATTENTION: NP300 looses coolant

Not a question, but a warning for new np300 owners :

Today my engine warning light went on (orange MIL). I was only a couple of kms from home and there was nothing that alarmed me, so I took it home for inspection. I did notice dried up green splatterings in the engine bay. Called my dealer and he told me it was most probably coolant. This was confimed by checking the coolant level, which was just below min.

Called Nissan assintance, and within 30 minutes the truck was towed to the dealer. It only took us 3 minutes to detect the cause :

The Airco pump was rubbing the coolant hose. There was another new navara at the dealer's so we checked if that one did have clearance,... and it did.

Seems my car is missing a hose clamp ore something that holds the tube away from the pump. I have to wait for a new hose. Hope it is in stock at Nissan's.

So,... better to be carefull. Check clearance before you are standing beside the road without coolant.

Don't suppose you have a picture of where it was rubbing?

No I do not. When you are in front of the truck, look down a bit to your left behind the radiator. Wauy down below, you can see a coolant tube about 2" in front of the airco pump. Mine was rubbing against the wheel that is on the pump.

Hi guys,

same has happened to me this morning here, vehicle is 3 months old. literally just been towed away so await to hear diagnosis but i would say at standstill and everything cool there is 10mm clearance from the air con pully and the coolant hose. so once up to temperature and with engine moving under load I'm pretty sure this would rub on the pulley

mine went pretty badly as it dumped all its coolant which now is sprayed over the engine bay!

Good advice, 👍

Checked mine and all good, thank goodness. Not the best photo, but shows that hose in question.

ill see if there a way to clip it back a bit. less time in the dealers less chance of coming back with extra scratches...

Best to prevent yourselves or you are in for a fight with nissan and a 6 week wait for the hose. Regretting not getting a ranger now!!

I swear my pipe was routed differently to the one in the photo. Be interesting to see what mine looks like when comes back and if it is any different!

I wouldn't fret over a not getting a Ford ranger, they aren't that good, just from driving a brand new one last week, they certainly do not drove as well as the older D40, and everything seems to rattle.
Look good......it ends about there really.
