Adblue consumption

Overall I am very pleased with my new truck, whats bugging me is the amount of Adblue my truck uses...

The dealer seemed to think it would need refilling about every service/year.

Mine asked for adblue after the first 30 miles, fine i assumed there was a minimal amount put in by Nissan to gets things started.
I put in 10 litres, about 1800 miles later it needed filling again, another ten litres and now coming up to 4000 miles it wantts more!

Is this normal?

No
My NP300 asked for adblue at 600 miles, that was down to poor PDI at dealership. From the 50 mile point mine showed a problem which transpired to be an adblue injection problem, since fixed it as been fine. I,m happy with the truck so far. all down to a good man in the workshop

Same issue with ours, at 1200 miles ad-blue warning came on left it go until 2200 miles, added 10 liters purchased from Nissan. Now on 3600 miles the warning light as come on again !

Nisan paperwork states 17 liter tank 7000 miles, works out at 411 miles per liter.

My math tell me I'm getting 2500 miles per 10 liter, which works out about 4300 for 17 liters.

Spoke to LFE Service today, apparently there was a Nissan ad-blue course last week where they were told it could alter if the vehicle was driven hard. Same with another dealer there demo is doing around 2000 miles per 10 liters !!!

So have been told to fill to the brim and do mileage checks.. utter ******** !

I filled it up with adblue today it took about 15l, I will see how long this lasts.

The process to fill it is beyond a pain in the **** though with airlocks in the drum and spillages is there an easier way?

I bought a 5l oil pouring jug but is not quite the answer either.
i would quite happily have my 75l diesel tank and no adblue like I did with my old one, the 60l tank is too small for the mileage I do.

Suggestions?

Buy a Euro5, we get an 80l tank and no adblu. As I recall on the Euro6 ones its a 73l tank in total.

I'm weighing up the pros and cons of swapping to gain a external temp sensor with the ball ache of Adblu!!

How about an additional long range expedition tank, they're pretty popular in Australia.
