Injector rattle matey, commom on the D40 Navara, most live with it, some get it sorted under warrenty, but very costly job if nav is out of warrenty..... :thumbleft:

click on this link and try the ECU and fuel pump reset, it has been known to reduse the noise or even stop it. viewtopic.php?f=15&t=5786

if not the only way to stop it is new injectors, but theres nothing to stop the noise coming back a few thousand miles down the line as they will just fit like for like injectors........

back again, thanks for the help i have reset the ecu twice once before a 50 mile drive it has not made any diference, i have read other peoples injector rattle problems and they seem to be at certain revs periodicly my noise is constant but goes at the top end of rev range, its not a harsh metalic sound just like there is a tapet out, i wonder if i am being to fussy as i used to have hairdresser wagon d-id wish i still had it.

Warning! Do not ignore those noises! Usually the injector causing it and that means the engine is running with incorrect combustion. In diesel engines piston damage will occur because of that.

Hi, reading through these posts. Mine is noisy at start up if the weather is below about 5C. The noise soon goes after 5mins when the engine has reached operating temp. In all my experience with farm diesels its just a typical cold diesel knocking. Just be sensible and dont thrash the nuts out of the engine until warm. I'm no mechanic so please feel free to put me right on my theory! :D
