I have had a problem with my torsion bar adjusting bolt on my 2000 model d22 navara 3.2 diesel.

i wound the torsion bars up so that the bottom end of the bolt was just inside the cross member to avoid damage to the bolts, after driving around for 2 months the torsion adjusting bolt snapped!

i was just wondering if this was a problem that anyone else has come across this problem?

never heard of it happening. just wondering, did you jack the ute off the ground before adjusting?

ok so turns out i finally got a new adjusting bolt from nissan only a 4 week wait haha. not happy.

As i put the new bolt in and start adjusting it back up the whole bolt pulls through the cross member, turns out the cup on top of the cross member designed to hold the bolt isnt designed very well and cant hold a lot of pressure.

so i pulled the torsion bars and crossmember off the car, cut both the domed metal caps off, heated them with an oxy and beated the steel back to its original position (the metal had torn and collapse in as the bolt pulled through), then i ran a thick bead of weld on the inside of the caps to secure the repair and reinforce it with more strength, welded the caps back in position and re assembled my torsion bars etc.

I would reccomend this be done to give you that little bit of extra strength seeing as though the nissan standard for this part is not all that great.



And as for the question from tweak'e yeah mate i used a 2500kg trolley jack under the cross member where the bash plate is and lifted the whole front end up off the ground.



hope this is some help for anyone else having a similar problem.
