Hi guys. Me with another question. This time a tad of a strange one

Having spoken to the guy in Shrewsbury today, he said that he very much doubted that my Nav would have its original engine. Or at least...most of it..as it has done 140,000 miles. I tried the folks who did the servicing on it. The first 5 services......I found that the garage has now closed..so no info there. The next eight were done by a dealer who claims to have no history of the vehicle ever being serviced there. Some help again. I only have one more to try tomorrow. So not getting anywhere far fast.

Anyhow...i thought that i would check to see that the actual engine had the same number as the log book. But for the life of me i can't find where it is located. I have looked at various threads here stating that it is by the Alternator...but I see nothing on the engine to even give me a clue. So can anyone be a bit more precise as to where the number is on the engine please ? A photo would be an immense help if anyone does have one.

I don't want to take her all the way to Shrewsbury if it doesn't even have an engine that could be effected. I know...wishful thinking...but i would like to see it ( if you know what mean ). I can't believe i can't find the bloody thing

It is hard to see, took me a while. It's behind the alternator, it's not obvious, get a good torch. Even when I found it, it was bloody hard to read( I didn't want to take the alternator off). If you get some water on a cloth on the end of a stick or something, give it a good rub you should manage.
It's behind the front of the alternator and the numbers are running vertically ie on their side , in two runs. It doesn't make it any easier!

The number on the Engine...is not the same as the one in the log book ! I have just been out in the rain..for over an hour trying to read the number. ( thanks for your help jocmac !) On my log book it has it as 103722. The Block says ( from what i can make out ) 224683A ? Does this sound right ? Is it supposed to have the (A) or have i read it wrong somewhere along the way...one thing is certain..it has had an engine change ! I am hoping that this is correct and i am now safe from the you know what problem ??

Yeah...i will still speak to the guy again tomorrow....and see what he recommends. I don't know if they are 100% safe of that problem after 219661 ?? Would it have had a replacement through warranty ? So many questions...

If that was the case....wouldn't the numbers after 219661 also be included in the numbers concerned ? If you know what i mean :?: :D

Dunno TBH, cos Nissan aftermarket engines would be assembled with the same problems...the engine number info refers to engines actually installed in cars OE as far as I know.
