ok , its done 40000, the dealer has the engine out, it has holed a piston, if an injector fails it is like a laser, i know high pressure common rail can be bad! well they are getting the block checked as i believe it might be damaged, also it picked up and might have damaged the head, that it to be crack tested too Your thought please gentlemen! |

I agree with jace, completely new engine, or go down the rejection route. I had to reject my first D40, which was quite straight forward as i'd not even had it a week before it had a serious issue. So the longer you have the vehicle, the more difficult a rejection becomes, although i do know of a case where a guy rejected his truck after almost a year of owning it. The dealer will tell you they are honouring the warranty by replacing the damaged parts of your engine, but it's your call really. My first D40, was repaired, and resold very quickly, in fact i see it every few days, and maybe it will now be ok for the rest of it's life?, but once you have a serious engine failure, it can effect lots of components. I think you at least should ask for a new engine, good luck with it anyway mate, i know how you feel, horrible situation. Steve |

Well with my dealings so far with nissan customer service i doubt very much they will listen to anything i have to say,imo this is a massive failure and a vehicle of this age should not be having major engine work. I have rejected a vehicle before but it was very new and they could not repair it so they had no other choice. As for the navara it is just over 2 years old , I will need to see what they say they are going to do . |

no need to reject complete truck just make it clear to them you want new engine or some kindve extra warranty on there engine work it might frighten them enough to go new engine |

A rebuilt engine rebuilt properly will last as long as a brand new motor. People saying it will never be the same again. Tell them to show you there mechanics trade certificate. I hate nothing more then people who have no clue whatso ever about cars and says things like "that car has been in a crash, it will never drive the same". If it has been repaired properly it will. If repaired cars never drove the same, would they be aloud back on the road. Answer: No they wouldn't. If repaired properly they are usually stonger, ie: more weld on skirts ect. |

If it is rebuilt. The engine is stripped down. All parts are measured. Jace wasn't your ZD30DDT rebuilt after the pistons melted or cracked. I am assuming no 3 or 4. |
