Dave,

Its not that i dont trust thier skills, and i am no numpty when it comes to engineering, but its a new truck to me i dont want oversized pistons skimmed head, oil leaks , damaged turbo, swarf in the oil cooler... etc etc etc.

But the nissan dealer is (i hope) complete bottom end, new block crank pistons etc, bare head new, and all gaskets bolts tentioners chain etc . i am going to ask the turbo is checked, oil cooler, and i will also ask about the warranty....i would prefer it if it had not broken and i didnt have to deal with all of this .....

Yes my toyota mate said the same...

but the dealer is playing the game, they dont want this to bounce back on them.

We will see i am going to ask to inspect block head etc and copies of the delivery sheets fo the parts for my service history.

Can't believe it, hope we are not going down the same road with engine probs again as with the d22. Nissan said there wasn't a prob then, then later admitted it, you would think that they would learn from experience but its not sounding too good. Has anyone who owns a D40 done more than the 40 to 45K mark, as it would be interesting to see how the D40 is fairing after this point.

Im looking to be towing with mine shortly so need it to be reliable, getting slightly worried now.

Rich.......

If it's under warantee tell them to replace the motor PERIOD

If the scheduled servicing was done according to the log books, then no issue ! 8)
