Hello,
new to the forum so please be gentle. Having just picked up my new (to me) D40 double cab I am trying to decide on the cover for the back.

Its basically between the roller top or the chequer plate style with the gas struts. Basically the van will be used as my work vehicle. I am a Contracts Director for a small construction firm. The van isn't going to be used heavily as I also have 2 vans which will carry the majority of stuff however there may be the occasion when I need to shove something in the back.

So here is the question - what have other people decided on? I like the look of the chequer cover over the roller top and it looks safer in terms of security, the grab straps are also handy however the roller shutter is also handy for that one in a 6 month instance where I need to carry something larger.

In the main the van will be used for me to drive to site and occasionally carry stuff. I will also use it as a car for general family stuff.

Has anyone else had this issue? If so what did you guys choose? Any regrets?

Finally - where is the best place to buy?

Welcome, with a roller cover you can still carry items that are higher than the bed depth as the cover can be opened and the truck loaded as normal, with a chequer plate Mountain top cover you can't do that as it won't close.

So what cover you choose is dependent on what you're going to be carrying.

Autostyling are very good and give a club discount:

Btw, the Nav is a truck, not a van

I love my roll and lock. Water tight, secure and looks cool. Just not cheap.

Oh and fitting it makes you want to kill someone. Then yourself. Then everything on earth. It's a pain is what I'm trying to say. :).

Once on its great though.

Another vote for the roll and lock top,
I bought my top for my first Navara in 2007, when I bought my new Nav last June, I planned to buy another one but my roll top is still working and looking great so decided to save some money and keep it,
As for fitting it takes about 30-45 mins :really

We have been using the Mountain tops on our work Navaras and find they suit our needs, they can come off easy enough if required to fit something big in the back (note you need two people to remove)
