the main dealer gave me 10/30...

a little thicker when hot cant be a bad thing can it?

Hot??? where abouts are you? :D

I just looked in my manual, says 5W/30, as you say if it's hot then the thicker stuff may be better?

The thing that would worry me is the fact that a lot of damage gets done when an engine is cold, like when first starting etc, that's the time a thinner oil will benefit, finding it's way through all the journals etc.

personaly i'd stick with the 5W/30 :wink:

5w for cold starts and 40 when the engine is hot

Thanks for the mail.

For the Navara a good 10w-40 semi synthetic with regular changes is ideal, if you want to go better then a 5w-40 full synthetic.

Brand wise have a look at Fuchs, Silkolene and Motul.
