My new lightbar

Having a large amount of suicidal deer on the island I decided it might help me see them easier at dusk/night with a roof mounted lightbar.

I got my bar from these guys, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Special-suppl ... 1e8a8c7570

I also bought the pre wired, wiring kit from them for about £6.

My plan was to mount it on the front roofrack feet at their rear fixing point. The brackets supplied fitted but due to the shape of the rack feet the rubber pads needed to be trimmed down to a wedge shape. using a craft knife. The lamp is nice and secure just behind the roof aerial.

I routed the cabling through the rack foot and into the roof underneath it using rubber grommets and lots of silicon to seal everything in place. The wiring passes through the bulkhead just above the throttle pedal where there is a big fat grommet. I had to cut the plug off the supplied wiring kit to get it through and splice the supplied switch into the high beam wiring at the back of the headlamp.

I took the switch up to the top of the windscreen pillar.

Because I have spliced into the high beam, the switch is only live when the high beam is activated. red off, green on.

This is the result;

I'm looking forward to trying it in the dark, I'll take pictures when I do.

Re: My new lightbar

Well I've still not christened it in the dark yet but it does make a bit of wind noise up there. I have felt for any movement but it seams to be secure. I wonder if more substantial brackets/feet would help?

Re: My new lightbar

Thats alwas the problem of sticking stuff on the roof that isnt streelined, its going to make noise. I ended up sound deadening the roof, i can barely hear any lind noise from mine now.
