Central locking inop, do I need a new keyfob?

I've read through just about all the 'Nissan Navara central locking not working' threads on here and the internet and so far nothing has
worked.

All the info:
The vehicle only came with one key, it starts the vehicle and opens the passenger door lock.
The lock button in the vehicle locks and unlocks all the doors.
No matter how many times I've tried (and the different ways) the self reprogramming won't work.
I've replaced the battery in the fob with a brand new, out of the packet battery.
I've also opened up the fob and all the buttons/contacts etc look good with noting loose.

So my questions are:
Do I need to just pop along to my local steelers and get them to reprogram the key I have, or do I need a new key fob?
Is it easier to just see a local auto locksmith and see if they can check if the key is outputting a signal?

Finally, I have not checked the cruise control as of yet to see if it maybe the BCM, I will try that today.

Have you tried disconnecting the (main) battery to force a cold boot ?

I would take a trip to my local auto locksmith first. The dealer option will be a last, and very expensive resort.

Yes, the battery was off for a total of 10 days whilst I did the Duplex chain upgrade last week, and it's still the same.

It's a radio-based system, so I would guess with it being contained in a big metal box (like a Faraday cage) it might need help picking up the key fob signal, maybe using a small stubby antenna somewhere on the car. If such antenna exists, could it have become disconnected?

Have you tried operating the fob with it right inside the engine bay, or in the car? I'm not sure where the antenna might live, but if it is a signal strength thing, getting very close to the ECU (or BCM, or wherever the electronics for it are) may provide a clue....

And I assume your main battery is 100%, and all earthing straps are clean and tight, right?

if the dealer is to dare

goto ebay and buy an after market kit entry kit with 2 remotes for $40, add 2 external 5 pin relays $15,use the 2 relays to turn a postive switching to negative switching and put it into the lock and unlock button on the door in the window control panel, use a test light with a bulb in it and probe the back of the switch, when you test the right wires the door will lock or unlock and thats the 2 wires you tap into, spare remotes cab be brought threw ebay for like $7.

it will save you a lot of money

Of course the OP could gain access to the ignition switch and remove the key proximity wire as its a common issue on the ignition barrels for them to wear and this function does not work anymore as the BCM is not being told the key is out. Its a lot of hassle to fit a new barrel so most people just make sure the keys in their hand before they use the remote lock. OP try this before you waste much more time and money. If you send it to the dealers this is mostly likely what they will do if they are being honest with you.

My cruise control is also not working, so I'm guessing the BCM is faulty.
