Outside Temperature Display now in Aussie models

Got a email from the sales guy I was dealing with today telling me that they now have Outside Temperature but still no Digital Speedo.

I think it is because if you go from a vehicle with something fitted to a vehicle without, it causes frustration no matter how minor. I must confess, I too have missed the outside temp display. We had it in the little Corsa hatchback we just got rid of. I know it is trivial and overall is such a minor thing to be hardly worth mentioning but I do miss it.

I'm certainly not one of those people that must have lots of gadgets. I drive classic cars as daily drivers! Hell I even have to use a speedo app on my phone because it is more accurate than the actual speedo on my Land Rovers.

Bit embarrasing really to admit I miss the damned temp display!

Haven't got one, probably never will own one, but in climates like the UK I think they are essential safety items.
Our V70 has got one, I retro fitted one to my D22, it is so useful to KNOW (not guess) when air temperatures are approaching freezing, even when about 2 degress C you can drive into a frost hollow where ice on the roads is a real possibility.
To a manufacturer a gauge would cost peanuts, the outside air temperature sensor is already fitted to supply inputs for the air con and ECU etc.

Very first upgraded D22 - 12 years and 90K miles and still going strong!

Agree 100%

Also I think it is more frustrating considering that the infotainment system fitted to our N-CONNECTA probably has the firmware and hardware to accept the temp inputs, it is more than likely just a software issue. As a software developer that makes me more frustrated because I know it is probably 10 mins work to fix (but probably requires 999999 mins of testing/red tape)

yep ok i can see the safety aspect around freezing point along with the minimal cost to add one. And on that point does the NP300 give any warnings for ice?

I would put my money on a conflict between the various engineers, guessing the adaptive cruise control box goes in the same place as the external temperature sensor and they forgot to submit it for testing and type approval with both fitted.

I've not had warnings of ice flash up on the displays but we've had a bit of a mild spell for the last few days so coldest driving was only about 3c, maybe too high to trigger one even if it was fitted? We are due loads of snow/ice from tomorrow until next week so I'll know for certain then.

Therer is no ice warning ,thats why I have eyes and a brain. Euro 6s miraculously have one(temp display) that shows up in the centre binnacle display.
Must admit I always hated the auto wipers on the D40s as they were forevever smearing flies across the screen on hot sunny days with no rain its not exactly taxing to work out when your wipers may need to work.

LOL, that reminds me of the auto wipers on a Peugeot company car I had many years ago. I hated those damned auto wipers, always coming on at the most inconvenient time too. I'm quite happy to turn wipers on and off when needed. Intermittent is usually good enough to cover most light rain scenarios.
