Heya team, just got myself an older 2006 Navara with 120,000km on the clock to tow the boat from home to the ramp and back. I noticed a tapping which seems to come from the top end and follows the RPMs. It has however been a while since I've owned a diesel so I'm not sure whether it's just my ear/brain playing tricks. To me it sounds like a clearance issue.

What do you think: https://youtu.be/2Ndw9Ii9n3I

Thanks in advance!

So I had a mechanic have a quick look at it this morning and we were able to stop the sound by putting pressure on the air filter box lid. When doing this he noticed that air was blowing out of the air box when in reality it should be sucking it in. So I've got him booked in to have a closer look this afternoon. Will report back.

Excessive wear in the turbo shaft might cause this or it might be a very blocked air filter. Some investigation needed.
