I’m going to look at a 2009 Navara Tekna 171bhp (according to total car check) have been told the chassis has been inspected and passed by Nissan so happy with that but what issues do I need to look for with regards the engine? Have read through a lot but I’m a bit baffled as to which engines suffer with what issues. Any guidance on which issues to look for or read up on would be much appreciated. Thanks

Up until 2010 there is a small risk of the timing chain stretching and eventually snapping.
After 2010, the chain was made in Japan, and the software detected stretch and shut down the engine before any damage.
Also after 2010, the power went up to 190 and the fuel consumption got better by about 3mpg.

I strongly suggest you get a slightly newer model, if you can stretch to mid 2011 it will be Euro5 which will help if these low emission zones come in.
