Put somthing too heavy on the tailgate (in my case a micro dumper chassis)?

Boot now difficult to close?

Put a length of cloth (I used an old towel) in the hinge gap and relativly gently try to close the boot.

Take out towel, and now the boot will shut.

What happens is the hinge gets pushed into the tail gate, making it too low. You will see damage to the pins on the side of the opening. The towel fix bends the hinge back out again.

Piece of ply 1/2" thick works as well...

I put motorcycles in the back of mine and use the tailgate to put the ramp up to.....Approx 200kilo going on there.....Not had a problem yet.

I drove the base of a mini digger up a ramp - and that was too much.

I cant pick it up - and I can pick my bike up (330Kg) just... Reckon its 400 to 500 kg.

Sounds like my frail 24 stone frame shouldn't cause any problems for the D40 tailgate when climbing in and out then. :wink:

missprint - 220Kg - and i reckon the digger thing weighs as much as the whole bike doubled.
