It is a 2006 D40 auto 2.5 diesel with 220000 km on it. It goes into limp mode, when I switch it off and on again it goes normal. intermittent problem

Are you running a fuelchip? Sometimes you need to recheck the plug on the railsensor. On a cheap chip, these sometimes get brittle and cause a bad connection.
Next up would be new fuel filter(s) followed by reset, final step would be suction control valve replacement.
