I booked my 53 plate d22 in to nissan today, because of a flashing yellow engine light which has just started to appear on the dash.

it says in the handbook that this could mean water in the fuel filter, so i replaced the filter, and its still happening.
what is stanger, is that, when i am driving, the engine drops down in power intermittantly, but if i release the pedal and then press again, its fine..

does the d22 do this as part of the warning process????

Nissan are charging a massive £58 just to tell me the suspected problem!

update!!

fIXED IT!!

there is a little green bung that stops the accelorator arm banging, and it had fell out of its hole.
apparently the d22 has no throttle cable, just an electronic sensor which determins the position of the accelorator arm. with the bung missing, it was out of synch with the other sensors on the engine.
so i popped it back in, and presto!

sorry nissan dealers..
maybe next time :)

location

in the drivers foot well, there is the throttle assembly/ pedal arm..

trace from the rubber pedal cover, up the arm, and you will find the bung between the throttle arm and the housing. sort of like a stop for the arm before it hits metal.

Manual says:

+ Fuel injection timing control system does not function properly.
+ Harness or connectors
(Electronic control fuel injection pump circuit is open or
shorted.)
+ Electronic control fuel injection pump
+ Improper fuel quality
+ “INJ TIMING” in “ACTIVE TEST” mode with CONSULT-II.*
*: When using this item, DTC may be detected. If so, erase it because it is not a malfunction.

Try the fuel filter. I had the same problem and had a minor heart attack when suggested the injector pump needed replacing. Changed the filter and all running sweet now
