Hi ... I can see this has been asked many times before but I couldn't see any specific questions from NP300 owners only from earlier versions. So I've noticed that my 2016 manual NP300 engine seems noticeably noisy when cold and under load until it gets up to normal operating temperature.

When accelerating and the revs hit 2000rpm the engine sounds quite rattly, I do drive quite gingerly from cold and don't rev the engine too much. The car has 26k on the clock. Is this normal and expected on the NP300?

Thanks.

Not that I have an np300, but that is pretty much the case for all diesels. You don't hear it quite so much on some vehicles as some have additional soundproofing.

Yes it’s normal and will get louder as the engine ages. A sudden increase in rattling when at temperature is the first sign of worn fuel injectors.
