Just out of interest .....
When I turn the engine off there's sommat runnin in the engine compartment.
Hums gently .... like a small pump ..... for about 2 mins ......
It's difficult to nail down exactly where it's coming from but best guess, after using a length of hose as a stethoscope, is a small, anonymous, cylinder on the nearside of the motor block below the fuel filter.
Fuel return?
Done it from new.
Not sure if it's every time I stop, just tend to notice it if I'm checking the oil or topping up washers etc.
It's not the rad fan. That would be much louder anyway.

The NP300 fuel pump (can’t tell if it’s the scavenge pump or the main pressure pump) runs whenever you open a door, and for a little while after shutdown.

Mine sounds like a constant buzzing hum.

Yep it's a fuel pump, seems to run for ages sometimes, especially after a quick start stop..
