Most vehicles are really uneconomical for the first few miles.
On a positive note, your commute is only costing you a couple of £
this is true. The Pathfinder in terms of power/economy is very similar to my old Terrano - so its not anything shocking. Ive a couple more things i want to check this weekend before i throw in the towel and just get on with enjoying the car :)

hey guys
i tried to do a log through Torque Pro today as i havent done one yet. Im obviously doing it wrong. I wanted to log Turbo Boost psi log to see what im boosting on a drive. My issue of feeling a lack of power up hill persists..
does anyone know how to correctly set Torque to log boost as i drive?

You should be seeing about 20psi boost and 22,000 psi fuel pressure at full tilt, t doesn't look like you are getting that much.
Yh, definitely feeling it. Right, back to the drawing board re low boost pressure and fuel pressure!
I'll be doing a longer drive tomorrow so I'll log that journey and compare the log.
Thanks very much for your help

hey guys, thought i would revive this thread as I am having a mare right now with my Nissans!! Currently my T31 Xtrail is throwing a wobbly and leaking oil, and i still havent fixed my Pathfinder. Long story short the Pathfinder issue is sluggish throttle response and sluggish performance and when going up hill and move to third gear i dont gain anything from flooring the accelerator...
I have a hole in my rear silencer (the one under the passenger off side). I have:
Fitted several fuel filters
replaced the fuel primer bulb twice
fitted a new genuine BCS
fitted a new genuine MAF
fitted new air filter
fitted new vac lines and inspected all except the one by the oil filter
cleaned the turbo with "Revive"
checked turbo - all ok
checked actuator arm - pulses at idle, and i can move it a little by sucking, and a bit more using a tool by hand (at one point, the actuator was not pulsing and only started to when i used some penetrating spray)
fitted new sensor on the intercooler
cleaned the intercooler
inspected intercooler hose/turbo hose, all ok
checked throttle body, seems fine. Changed the EGR but also blanked it later.
fitted a new injector to replace No1 at the rear as it seemed faulty when tested
fitted new gaskets to rocker cover - inspected each injector at the time bar number 3 which i couldnt easily remove so left it due to feeling scared at the time ha)
fitted new oil rings in the injector cover as number 1 was leaking badly
fitted oil catch can
inspected fuel pipes, all seem ok, swapped some by the fuel filter due to cracking.
Fitted genuine SCV (was the very first thing i did, made zero difference to the problem i have now, though i am unsure if the problem i have now came after changing the scv!!)
run a few injector cleaners through the system
run some Liqui Moly intake cleaner through the system (when i changed the EGR, it was caked in crud and the intake i could see through the thottle body was messy)
done the fuel pump reset several times, accelerator pedal and throttle body reset several times, ecu reset several times using the various different methods.
After everything i try, the same issue persists with seemingly no improvement..
Currently i have the exhaust blowing and a hesitation around 2k rpm though i cant be overly surprised as im hardly driving the car due to the issues...!

i am hoping someone may read this and have some advise, i am trying to fix it myself but i get that at some point there may be a problem beyond my abilities, though i would love to find the fault and fix it.

Oh, mine doesnt have a DPF, so its not that. I dont know if the cat is blocked - i havent tried to get to it yet as i dont know how yet. MPG is down at 20 ish right now :(

really hope someone can help
thanks!
Clive

You did loads of things at the end of last year I seem to remember.

Code reading.. have you got one that can show live readings? If not, a Bluetooth one dongle is very cheap and been be paired to your Android phone or tablet.

Being able to see fuel pressure, airflow etc will really help.

One thing you haven't changed is the fuel pressure sensor. A known culprit for causing limp mode but not showing a fault code.

i did post some readings a bit back in this post - literally nothing has changed in terms of the problem since then :/ !!
I have purchased a fuel rail sensor and relief valve, but i cant loosen the sensor its damn tight and im not sure how much force i should use to remove it...
I bought the sensor because ages ago i got ONE fault code for the fuel rail pressure sensor - but after changing the SCv and clearing the codes it has never returned...

So you did!

Definitely the problem is still very low fuel pressure. It could be fuel pump, but far more likely to be the sensor and/or relief valve.
Run the engine for a bit to get some heat in the metalwork and give it another try replacing those parts

Will do!
Just to check...I have the correct size ring spanner.....does the sensor need a serious whack to loosen it? It's super tight ...

ok i went out and gave the sensor a good whack and ive changed it. i also checked the actuator again, and checked the maf (which is brand new clean) and primed everything up though i think my primer bulb broke after i fitted the pressure sensor because now i the bulb wont harden :)
anyway, doesnt seem to have made a difference, here is a snip of the logs i took, rpm is the 4th column and fuel rail pressure psi the last column

I still have to change the pressure relief valve but i have done the sensor - no change, here is a video of the actuator - does it look to be pulsing correctly?? i checked it again by sucking and i can just about move it up maybe half a centimetre, no more, same if i use pliers, im not 100% sure how much it should move...
thanks for all the help so far. Someone suggested stretched timing chain - is that possible??

5mm sounds about right.

On the diagnostics, it is the intake manifold pressure, not sure what the last column is measuring.

The issue doesn't sound like the timing chain.

It looks like it getting to the point where you need professional assistance in diagnosis the issue. What part of the country are you in?

i am in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
ive still to swap out the pressure relief valve, after that yh im stumped other than injectors/turbo i just dont know

the last column is turbo boost gauge psi

ok, did some testing which i hope might help :/ im not ready to give up yet!
Tested with the MAF unplugged, worse. Did a screen record on my mobile and recorded the engine sound so you can see where i am struggling to go uphill after i plug the maf back in (you can hear me exit the vehicle, do the bonnet/MAF and get back in, after that i turn and go uphill and i cannot get beyond 2500rpm ish and you can hear everything is super slow. As i get to the top of the hill i start to get power back etc.....ive also attached a track log from Torque...
video - Photo
track log - trackLog.csv

i have major hesitation at around 2.5k rpm (ive had one injector replaced which i did myself a number of months ago as one failed)...
just to say i really appreciate the time i am being afforded with this one, i know its a very tricky one to help diagnose but i really appreciate it...

So very there much the symtom of the engine going into limp mode. Plenty of Google results "Navara won't rev beyond 2500 rpm"

Your CSV shows a maximum of 4k psi fuel pressure, that should go to 22k psi.

Problem being, apart from the fuel pressure relief valve you seem to have changed every thing that could cause it.

Thank you Landmannn...yh I'm stumped at the moment. I'll swap out the relief valve next, do another pump reset then check all the fuel pipes again ...I must be missing something.

just to add a bit more info as this may be important..... my brakes work ok, but id say arent sharp at all when compared to every other car ive ever driven :)
ive read several posts about brake booster/vacuum affecting boost....are there any tests i can do with the brakes or is it a red herring taking into account my CSV file?
