Not sure if anyone else has had this issue. I've had a rattle from the hood area that I've been chasing for many moons. Today, I happened to open the hood and shake it, still looking for the said rattle. Viola, it's actually coming from within the hood. Looks like there's some insulation material, which is now brittle and crumbling. When hits the hood, it's like pebbles in a tin can.

Not able to pull it out as there's nothing to unbolt. Access is available via an opening where the hook for the latch mechanism protrudes downwards.

There are 4 holes, enough to poke a screwdriver in.

As removing this offending materials seem impossible, I was toying with the idea of expanding foam insulation.

Any suggestion guys?

I wouldn't be surprised if nice hadn't got in there and chewed the insulation.
Expanding foam might work, but it might just seal the ends.

Have you tried a pressure washer to see if the water might dislodge the residue?
