Evening all,

Just had the truck in for a pre-mot inspection and there's play in the rear half shaft, basically you can grab hold of the rear wheel and move it in and out by about 10mm. Is there anywhere that sells after market or re-con shafts that anyone knows of?

The other option is to find a garage with the right kit to press the old bearings off and press the new ones on.
Exactly the same set up on 1956 land rover I once owned, how technology hasn't moved on...

Would you say its a bearing fault or would the grooved half shaft problem not be the cause? Apparently there is a slight showing of fluid on the back of the brake plate aswell....?

Doesn't look to bad to do I guess but would the "in and out" play be more likely caused by a bearing fault or the soft shaft seal groove problem?

The grooved surface of the shaft is only responsible for the rotation of the shaft. I think the placenta is damaged. You need to replace the entire set visible in the photo.
