Hey guys having trouble with my serpentine belt, just swapped it out and everytime I turn the car over the belt slips off the tensioner pulley, any ideas guys? cheers.

If you have a pre 2010 with a manual tensioner, have you tightened it up? The deflection should be 10kg per mm on the longest length, so roughly a mm deflection if you push hard with your thumb.
If a later model with an automatic tensioner that's already set.
The other possiblity is the pulley on the alternator having slipped out of line.

It's a later model, When the belt is off the pulley/idler on the auto tensioner has a lot of movement, is it meant to move like that?

From memory, yes a fair bit of movement. These tensioners sometimes lose their strength, is the belt super tight when on?

No the belt isn't super tight, I hope I'm not understating the amount of play in the tensioner because it's literally moving up down and in out, cheers for the reply

Sounds (from afar) that you need a new tensioner.

Do you think the whole tensioner or maybe just the pulley?

Took the pulley off and the bearing seems pretty worn, I'll get a new one to compare them

You can actually buy a couple of bearings and knock the old ones out of the pulley. They are SKF 6301 - 2RS1 or 6301 2RSH and only a few dollars each (you need 2)

Put a new pulley on the tensioner and it's now tight, hopefully the belt will stay on for more than 5 seconds this time lol
