Hi guys, looks like the cold is killing the battery so time to buy a new one. Has anyone any suggestions as to which one to get and where from? And please dont say Halfrauds or Nissan!!

Red top are for starting, yellow for deepcycle such winches etc.cdpdesign45 said:Hi Guys,
I'm new on here, just bought a 06 Navara Aventura. Should be arriving tomorrow all being well!
I deal with batteries every day at work. My honest opinion is to opt for an Optima battery. They aren't the cheapest, but they are by far the best. Designed to give maximum CCA (Cold cranking amps) so gives best starting power. You can get red, yellow and (I think) blue top. If memory serves me correct red top are marine and yellow are road use. (they are a weird looking battery; resembles 5 pint beer cans strapped together from underneath!)
Once my car arrives I can tell you the best battery and prices if you like..

At 200 quid, yes great batteries, but a bit over specced for normal use, especially when a conventional branded battery is about a third of the price.
If high tech is your bag, some of the heavy users rate the Odyssey brand. For only 300 quid you will get a very advanced battery using absorbed mat technology capable of 2000A.
