Can anyone tell me if there are any known engine failure faults on the D40 engine as there was with the D22 with the bearings on bottom end??

I don't want to go into detail tbh, but if you do a search here regarding SMK, you'll find various info.
The D40 engine is generally very good, and to be fair apart from the oil pick up design, the D22 is also, with certain D22 engines doing or getting the mod done is a must. Once the mod is done they're very reliable durable engines.
On the net, many things get blown out of proportion, and many mix up the two vehicles D22 and D40, they're totaly different vehicles.
The D40 isn't without issues, but the engines are as i say, generally pretty good :wink:

Emm you've got me thinking now as i had mine booked in on 10th jan as the abs light is on and to cut a long storey short i have had it on a auto electricians machine and it was reading front abs sensor open circit i think anyway changed abs sensor still have same problem and the guys been back to me to try and clear fault and it will not clear so i rang around and someone told me to ring smk so i did and the bloke said it would be the abs ecu!! Now i'm not so sure!! Its going to cost me £250 to get it done.
