d22 engine failure & crunch sound on full lock

Ive just brought a 2005 d22, witk 53'000 miles.

looking at reviews on them, ive seen alot of comments about a rod going through the block.

is this a common problem? and what would i have to do to ensure it doesnt happen to mine?

Also when i put it into full lock and go over a bump it makes an awful crunching sound, any ideas what this is, and how to fix it.

Hi Riosso -Your crunching sound will be the lock stop - common thing my workshop D22 does it just put a blob of grease on the point where it touches, and its done close to 200000 miles with minimal servicing and still going strong no engine issues.
There have been engine issues a bit of searching will find you what your after.

the engine - depends on whether you want to do it yourself - anywhere from £150 to £3,000
