I have done roughly 65000 miles on my Toyo 285 35R 22 tyres and there is still plenty of life left in them, in all fairness I drive like an old woman but I used to go through a set of tyres roughly every 25000 on my BMW which I assume is about average. If I was getting through a set of tyres every 5k miles I would have to raise some questions because I don’t suppose a Q5 weighs much different to an L200, it must be the driving style and due to the fact that I’m not 17 anymore I don’t feel the need to drive like I have a three ton right foot

This bloke was having a right old go about this Q7, but to do tyres every 5000 miles, there must have been something wrong with it, can't believe that's normal. If i remember rightly he was spending 2k/year on tyres   - which was one of the reasons he chopped it in for a RRS.

Both cars look great. Bit of a change from the Golf. I am new to the NAvara as well. Just picked it up last Friday.

I noticed on the NAV that you have a roofrack on the bed. Have you got a roll cover as well? How did you secure it? I am looking for something similar to this so that I can either carry skis or bikes.

Any recommendations you can give me woudl be great.

Hope your enjoying the new toy as much as I am. Might have to upgrade the speakers though!!

When my Nav finally gets here... it will be replacing this

Was my daily driver for 4 years, and the only thing to go wrong with it was the heater fan.

Funnily enough I'm running round in a MK5 Golf GTi, as a stop gap till the truck arrives. Wife loves the Golf so much can see us keeping it long term....

... deep down though I want another Lotus, probably a "transplanted" supercharged-Honda engine'd version

Yes it is a roll cover its a Pace edwards with explorer rails fitted and you then attach the roof bars to them.

Quite honestly I prefer my Nav, its not as quick !! but you dont drive around with people giving you the w@nker sign !! The 911 was an amazing drive but its just a waste of money IMHO, maybe just be getting old !

Now planning a V6 if I can find the right deal, best price I've seen is ÂŁ23800 + VAT on a car brokers website so will pursue this next week.

Cheers !

Seriously... don't do it!

I clubbed together with my bro and a mate, hired a professional instructor and rental of an Exige @ silverstone. We had a full day of laptime, and by mid morning we were blitzing ferraris driven by the "experience" guys who only got 20 mins wheel time.

We got more than 2hr wheel time each, professional coaching, and the ability to drive the car flat out (with an experience day they treat everyone like they'll stack the car). So 6 times more in the car, you truly get taught, and ultimately are doing quicker laptimes... cost me about ÂŁ500.00 a similar Ferrari experience was ÂŁ200.00 (and I bet they were a bit p'd off being lapped by a plastic car from Norfolk!!! )

By mid afternoon we were pushing the "instructors" in the Fezzas through certain stretches when they were doing the hot laps!!! The Lotus was MILES quicker through stowe/vale/ club, but being 175HP down inevitably couldn't pass on the longer straights :(

We used Anthony Dunn ( http://www.anthonydunn.co.uk/ ) and have to say he was great! (So much so we even took 10 staff on a corporate event we organised with Anthony!)

I'm sure he could organise you a 911, but if it were me I'd save the money. The Lotus will be just as fast unless your dad happens to be Nigel Mansell. At the end of the day he isn't keeping the car.... The 911 is such a good car because it is perfectly useable as a day to day machine yet capable on the track. The Lotus is uncomfortable over long distances, "edgy" on rough roads, noisy, has zero rear visibility, (insert loads more bad points here)...... but on the track it truly shines! Enjoy a proper track experience :cheers2:
