Does anyone know the bearing number for the rear half shaft/wheel bearing?

There is abit play on n/s rear so presuming it's this :?

Notice there a good few posts on this, am I right in thinking the pre 2006 had problems with halfshafts but after this they were ok?

Mine is a 2007 with 40k and had a easy life, I could understand if it was a higher mileage or it had been used as a commercial vehicle for work!

Just got back from Nissan, unable to supply bearing but will supply seals ÂŁ28.20 or a half shaft at a cost of ÂŁ691.40!!
Can't believe you have to buy a half shaft if a bearing goes, total joke!!
So IF you needed to replace all four 'wheel' bearings you'd be looking at nearly 2.5k for parts alone from Nissan?!?!

thats why if people have half shaft problems it is better to replace the whole rear axle from a much newer scrapped truck

Thanks for the reply
That's crazy!! changing a whole rear axle because of a bearing failure.
In the past I've had various 'commercial' vehicles, mostly mercs, 508's,609's,sprinters etc and I've never had to change a whole axle for such a 'minor' problem.
It's unacceptable for a bearing to go at this kind of mileage with the kind of use it has had,let alone to be bent over and shafted (no pun intended  ) by Nissan or to have to change a whole axle from a vehicle which could suffer the same problem putting me back to square one.
Has nobody pulled their half shaft out and sourced / fitted bearings and seals??

That would be handy Alex, going to have a look at mine over the weekend to make sure the play is coming from this and to check the seals.
I don't think I have leakage though as never noticed any fluid....

Just been quoted over ÂŁ2000 to replace rear wheel bearings/halfshafts and propshaft UJs on my 09 Navara its covered 70000 miles so out of warranty, absolute joke, anyone had new bearings fitted to an old halfshaft, seen bearings on Ebay for ÂŁ90 a side.

half shaft work alone is about ÂŁ1200, so you can see why many simply change the whole rear axle for about ÂŁ600 from a scrapper as I said further up the thread.
UJs are about ÂŁ30 from Milners and is a job you can do at home.

I think i have the same problem, but not in the rear, i have it on the front, and it seems that i have to buy the all thing, they don't sell only bearing and in Portugal cost €700.
If someone have the solution for this problem, tell me please.

Thanks

Seales can be got from milner not sure about bearings mines in for a leaking half shaft next week hopfully sorted under waranty if they do replace it i will try and keep hold of the old bearings and see if they are anything like standard

Got my halfhsaft back, suprised how little of a grove in the shaft make is leak. I will take a picture of it later but the bearings are quite specilist so i dought they can be sorced from anywere els
Hi Alex

I'd bet that they are available, I can't see nissan making their own bearings specifically for the Nav's!
A good bearing stockist would probably be able to match them up.

I will get a picture of them up. The shaft was the problem so i now have a spare set of bearing anyway but you cant get them off wtih out first getting the ABS ring off that looks like its heat shrunk on so could be a problem and i bet its not avalible sepratly
Hi Alex

I'm guessing that the bearing will more than likely just pressed on. Although you are probaly right about the reluctor ring (ABS ring) Nissan never make anything that easy, do they!! lol

I've just had mine done. Theres a shop on ebay selling the bearing and the inner and outer seal as a kit for ÂŁ90.

milners sell rear bearing and two seals for 46 + post, bearing disintergrates when you try to remove it to replace outer seal, i took all my parts to local bearing stockist and he sourced bearing and two seals for 60 + vat, put together with 10 tonne press and all is good, it is best to carefully cut off bearing and seal so outer plate stays nice and true.
