Hi I disconnected the sensor beside the reverse senor last night and the problem is sorted no more misfiring

but not quite sure what the sensor is for as there are no other affect just no misfiring

probably the neutral switch. seems to be a common enough problem.

you have the 2.5L motor ? i don't know what else that switch runs on them.

I had it in with my mechanic and he had plunged it into 3 different computers and checked the turbo all ok i told him about the neutral sensor/switch and he said it did not have one so I just disconnected the sensor beside the reversing sensor
but it must do something and I don't see any difference

i have just replaced this switch on mine as i was having a few problems - turrned engine on, turned on the engine heat switch so it was revving higher and unplugged switches untill it dropped to normal idle revs.

took it for a spin without switch plugged in and problem solved.

Spoke to my mechanic and he happened to have a spare navara gearbox in, took the switch off that one and job's a good-un!!

although it has started missfiring again everynow and again in 4th, think i'll go buy a new switch for it, or just run without it plugged in. I never use that heat awitch anyway...

as far as i know it is just a switch that deciphers if youre in neutral or not, (though dont quote me as im no mechanic).

If you turn on your heat switch and then put gearstick in 1st gear, the revs will drop to idle.

In my case, 3rd and 4th were giving me grief.

If i put it in 3rd or 4th the revs would not drop. I concluded that this was coz the switch was not functioning correctly and thought it was still in neutral, therefore im guessing the turbo was not spinning and therefore lack of power.

when i took the switch off, it all worked fine apart from the heat switch, obviously.

hope this helps a bit.
