Hi guys,

Recently i have read a few posts which mentioned removing the cat from the YD25 engine.

Has anyone done this? If so what gains have they seen?

I can only see that it will do the engine good, with regards to performance and MPG.

Any info on this subject would be great

Cheers, Mark :thumbleft:

Easy enough to do, remove the cat pipe by unbolting from turbo and downpipe, then unbolt front prop at front diff and pull out of the way. Unbolt mid-section exhaust hanger, pull exhaust out of the way.
The you'll have enough remove to bring the cat pip down by the side of the engine.

Easiest thing then is to remove the catalyst element, and refit pipe only.

Gains- minimal / not noticeable.....did seem a bit free-er mid range....also hear a nice turbo whistle on idle!

Excuse me to bring up thos old thread, but hwo are you doing with the catalyst removal? Did you do it yourelf?

As far as unbolting the damn thing on the turbo and on the mid section ... owkay. But i got stuck around the bracket half way the cat. :frown2:
So as i got no spare time, i fixed the thing as original and planning to do the catalic removal later ... :wink2:

you can remove the cat without removing anything except the exhaust (to pull back a bit) and the heat shield.
and then smash it out and re fit.
if i remember rightly. its 4 bolts from the turbo side and 1 from underneath.
fidely job with the heat shield, be careful not to round off the 10mm bolts.
and i found it easier to remove wheel and rubber flap.
i did have a thread somewhere. ill have a look and post if i find it.
