Hi,

My name is Judith, I bought a 2002 Navara D22 double cab pickup a few weeks ago. I live in Yateley, Hampshire for the most part, but we also have a smallholding we are doing up near Carmarthen in South Wales.

I absolutely love it, but it's making a strange, and rather loud, sort of grating noise when on full lock. The car has been looked after extremely well by Nissan garages, so I don't think its anything major, but if anyone knows what it is, I would be very grateful if they would let me know. Maybe I can persuade husband or son to sort it for me.

Thank you.

Judith

Hiya & welcome Judith, it sounds to me like the bump stops. There are rubber chunks for the top but on full lock there is no rubber, keep em greased & they'll be ok. If its anything else one of the boffins on here will correct me & help you out.
BTW has it had the engine mod done?

Hi and welcome, as Jay says could be the steering stops, on many trucks the bolts are set up wrong from factory.
IIRC the bolts protrude 35mm, and should have been set to 25mm, you could adjust the bolts to 25mm.

The graiting noise is the bolts rubbing up and down on the chassis when the steering is on full lock, so if you don't adjust them, regular greasing will help keep the noise down

Hi there,

Thanks for the welcome and the info. I will get one of the men in my life to crawl under and have a look!

As for the modification, I'm not sure, will have to look at all the paperwork I got with it, or maybe give a Nissan dealer a call, hopefully it will be on their system. I'm in Wales, paperwork in Hampshire so will look when we get home.

Thanks again.

Judith :cheers2:

hi and wellcome :thumbleft:

sound like full lock stops small silver caps with a nylon face that go over the end of the rod
u will need 4, 2 each side. cut the old ones off or twist off with grips and tap the new ones back on and cover in grease

cost about ÂŁ10-15 for 4

give billcar a call im sure he would pop some in the post to u

Hi Mark,

I'll post a photo later, but it's a silver one with a Carryboy fitted on the back, so nothing out of the ordinary. What does make it different though, are the stickers I have on the side windows and rear window. If you see it, you'll know it's mine. :!:

Cheers,

Judith

Some very pretty fairy pictures and some angel stickers, eg Never drive faster than your angels can fly. Not everyone's thing I know, unfortunately it doesn't stop my husband or son driving it!

Thanks Paul,

Will bear that in mind, but have a husband, also Paul, who does everything, plumbing included. You never know though. If you know the area, it's near Meidrim, so peaceful.
