Recall on D40 - alloy wheels, anyone had theirs swapped?

Just had a letter land on the door mat, not actually from Nissan UK, but from my local dealer. It states that a letter from Nissan UK will arrive soon on the subject of alloys wheels possibly cracking under full load.

Mine is a 56 plate.

Anyone else had the same recall yet?

I did a quick search and couldnt find anything on here.

My local dealer has just confirmed this on the phone
over the next month or so everyone will get a letter, your wheels will be inspected with a crack detector the dealers have been sent people with cracked wheels will have theres replaced there and then, others will be called back in due coarse for replacements
Supposedly the problem is a hairline crack that forms from the back of the spokes about 1/3rd the way from the hub
all navaras are effected (all 3 styles of wheels) and everyone will get replacements including alloy spares

Crumbs! 'All' replaced?! Even ones showing no effects of cracking?!

I'm guessing they will have to, just to cover their own backsides in case of future failure.

I'd better give them a bell then.

Call to Nelson Mandela.... *cough*, sorry, Nissan Main Dealer me thinks....

hey we can just go with the folks downunder lol
Have called the dealers here and most havent actually heard anything .I had to convince one dealership the recall was real.
Will be interesting to see if they do the same downunder as you guys get .Nissan Aus seem like they will do anything at all to avoid spending coin.

Well its booked in for the start of next week - they want it for 'upto an hour'... which I thought was a little excessive.

All the service reception said was 'we need to check if yours is in the batch effected'. Still can't believe they will be exchanging them - but I guess I'll find out more next week.

Hi Guys

Just spoke to Nissan "A Nissan dealer in my area" and they are avoiding me like I had the plague !!!

So spoke to "A different dealer in another area" and confusion all round :dance:

I posed the question that If I come in and get the wheels checked and they find nothing am I safe to drive it or do I have to have a check every week --month--- 2 months till the replacement wheels arrive?

And, If no extra checks are done how long can I drive it safely?

It went very quiet................They said they have no idea?!!!!

So what say you all? What if a crack develops next week? and I/you have no idea and keep driving it!!!!!!!! would you feel safe with your kids in the back ???

my nav when in today for so jobs to be done before time is up and the checked my wheels and said theres no cracks as yet. but he told me only 07 plates and new are being changed no 06 or 05s. just got to wait till i get my date to take it in for them to fit the new ones, this is bad really when you think about it, you could be rideing round in a death trap till there checked them or got them changed!

.....it's a global recall and affects models built from 2005 - 2008.

As this is a recall it suggests they will be taking corrective action on all models built within this period. So it's hard to imagine what else they can do other than replace the potentially faulty wheels to overcome the situation.
