I am quite a fan of the nissans slighly lower load bed as i am regulaly unloading/loading blocks and bags of cement and sand and when ever i have seen a hi-lux it looks like that will be a whole lot more difficult with very little gain other then cosmetic
I just hope nissan dont round the front of the nav off any more in the latest modle

Also what is avalible for the amorock in the way of roller shutters and canopys, i would hate to buy a truck then find you cant buy anything for it

You can get a top up cover like mine already.

When i went to the open day thing, i did ask the salesman what was available for the rear bed, he said, and i quote " you have a truck, you'll know more about it than me, you tell me"  , i hope they've learnt a bit more in the last couple of months

I don’t know why everyone is so hung up on the size of the VW, it would be under powered (@163bhp) in a saloon car, just wait until you are trying to push that barge through the wind at 80mph, record breaking mpg my ass. Like all German toys it will have been tested to death, but in a laboratory environment, not the real world. If they put a nice 4.0L TDV8 or 3.0L TDV6 in it I will take a serious look. My last L200 had more horse power and more torque than the VW and it felt horribly under powered.
 I would say it performed well as a support vehicle in the Dakar Rally. If that isn't tested then I don't know what is

Paul like I did at first , you obviously feel that the 163 bhp would be under powered in such a mid sized truck ,but trust me that twin turbo VW with 405mn of torque felt just as fast/quick as any 176 -190 bhp nav i have eva drove ..in fact its just as quick 0-60 as mine and yours v6 dci navara i had ...but obviously not as brutish after...but still very impressive for 163 bhp
As you know i never run an AMORAK on a long distance but i could well believe the MPG figures that VW and all the other motoring mags claim for the truck as i have have owned many vw cars diesel vans/cars that was awesome on the juice .
IMO the nav v6 has the best grunt out there ..but that is about it as along with the design the shape is very dated now amongst this new breed of trucks that is now coming through :)
Cant wait to see Nissan's answer to this with the complete new shape their bringing out ,can you ? :thumbleft:

Great sales pitch!

Good man!

I parked next to a hilux this week, had some nice chrome bits on it, a few lights etc and I thought yea looks good. But then you see the wheel! I think they are the exact ones in that pic. I hate to say it but fail.

On a side note it just shows how small truck brakes are and stupid drum brakes at the rear!

For me my truck has to do a job, and that means towing my 5th wheeler. My Nav has a Gross Train Weight of 6.5 tonnes. What's the VW's, anyone know?

He tried to make a joke and a laugh about it but that's what he said. They'd been on a course thing to learn about the truck and drive it etc, guess it didn't cover the extras available  - As he said, they've never sold trucks before, just vans etc .......

Forgot to say, i had an E-mail from them yesterday - 'great news, we have 2 extra vehicles available, .............in November  , please ring/come in and see us if your interested bla bla bla ...........' - Delete :D

The NZ PDF shows 5,500kg max combined weight.

The big selling point I see is fulltime 4wd. Unlike the part time used in virtually all it's competitors (except the defender).
5,500kg is right on the limit for me :( (prefer a bit more), hence a Navara. :) As for fulltime 4wd, I hardly ever need to use mine in 4wd and would fit freewheel hubs, if I could. :x

Who really needs permanent 4wd? I adjust my drivingstyle to the weather/road conditions. Off road or on snow, I use 4wd. My brother-in-law drives a Touareg and that thing just eats tires so I don't really see the advantage.

I like the size of the VW and I just know the build quality will be better but I'm hooked on the looks of the nav. I can't help it. Perhaps the VW will grow on me. I just hope the new nav doesn't go all Juke on us. If it looks anything like the 2011 Ford F250 I'll run to the dealer. :partycheer:
