Hi Guys,

I hope this isn't the start to many fault I am going to have with our truck.

Friday we colelcted the truck, started, worked liek a dream. Let it stand over night, Saturday AM drove the truck, all fine did 150 miles bringing it back home.

I have just gone out to play with the truck and opened her up.

I put the keys in and went to turn her over. All I got was a series of clicking noises. No engine noises or even a vague attempt at turning her over.

I took the keys out and the clicking continued. It did that for several minuets. I tired again and the same thing happened.

I then tried the spare key and no joy.

So at the moment I have a truck that wont start, the windows that wont go up and its unlocked.

How do I lock her up and how the hell do I get her to start!

HELLLPPP!!!

Cheers,

CS

Sounds like a completely flat battery to me. Have you tried jump starting it?

Thanks for the replies guys - if the battery was flat would that prevent it attempting to turn over?

How can I test for a flat battery as I don't fancy paying out for a new one if its not the issue - I'm no way a mechanic and my tool box contains a couple of screwdrivers and a spanner.

Either use a battery charger and charge the battery up or get someone to give you a jump start and once the engine starts either give the truck a good run to charge the battery up.
I'm going to get some jump leads tomorrow as that seems the cheapest thing to try first.

What can I do about the truck not being locked - is there a manual over-ride?

Cheers,

There is a lock for the key in the front passenger door handle behind a wee cover. You'll need to lock the others manually from inside the cabin.

P.s Don't skimp on the price of a new set of jump leads, the cheap ones will not carry the current needed to start the Nav.

If you have only got it did you buy it of a dealer, if it needs a battery he should supply you one.
That's assuming it's the battery that has failed, it could be the altenator not charging. But you are right, if it was bought from a dealer, the vehicle needs to go back to have the problem resolved.

OK this may sound stupid but how do you lock the doors from the inside? The manuals not much help. I have located the passenger door hidden key lock though.

Leads - of course, this truck is a beast - Halfords Value isn't the way to go ;)

First off get a multimeter on the battery and see what the voltage is, under 12v and you need to charge it, ideally overnight. Check again in the morning and hopefully it's 12v+.
Start the truck make sure all electrics are off and again put the meter across the battery the voltage should be approx 14v maybe a bit more this will show your alternator is charging the battery, if the meter only reads 12v or less the alternator is likely to be screwed. The battery could well be done for if it's been standing for a while or run really flat too often as they don't like that and it might charge but not last for long.

Thanks for the tips Linley.

Any ideas on how to lock the doors from the inside?

I haven't checked, so i'm not sure, but do you push the door release catches in, rather than pull them out to open the door ?? - if you see what i mean

Indeed and that was my exact thought, but no they don't move in that direction.

Hmmm, no, that doesn't work (not on mine anyway), Does the locking switch in the lower dash by gear stick work without any power ???
