Hi Guys,
Just joined this site, I have had a d22 for the past 4 years, live in buckinghamshire,
Do quite a bit of off roading so put them thru there paces.
Just brought a D40 07 plate aventura with 60,000 on it off a mate.
He has had a bit of a tough time with it, Its had a new engine, clutch near side drive shaft, alternator. And im just hoping he has done all the work that it needs and I can get some enjoyable trouble free motoring.
What have I done?????

Welcome Sam, it's great you know all the history of your new truck, sounds as if all the major work has been done. :thumbright: :thumbright:

You'll get loads of info to keep you going on this forum.

The D40 is great on and off the road but you may have to do a bit of suspension upgrading to do serious off roading.

welcome mate, enjoy ya new truck, D40 has a lot of refinement over the D22, still a good work horse though :thumbleft:

Hi and welcome SS.

You'll love the D40 after owning a D22.

My mate has a Bavarian Mountain Hound and it is lovely. He uses it for stalking. Have you any pics of yours?

Aye Sam, that's Tia, a wee bitch. Unfortunatly she had to be put down last October due to Lymphoma.

She was only 2, which was really young for a dog to get that. I got here from a pup intending to breed her in my retirement, she was not worked although I had intended her pups to be trained as search dogs. Springers are lovely affectionate dogs but can be a loopy and need to be occupied.

The Bavarian mountain hound sounds like a very intelligent dog, he could be a real handful if not worked.

As for the D40 eating engines, the only possible issue appears to be a weakness in the lower timing chain on higher mileage engines, althoiugh you won't have to worry about that for a while.
