Hi all,
I'm looking at getting a Navara probably about a 2007-2008.

Basically we currently have a Vecrta SRI which though a bit bland has been a good old horse. We now need something a bit/lot bigger for the 3 kids + dog + bikes.

I have been reading a lot of horror stories about d40 eating half shafts/axles & clutches is this true? Obviously you only tend to hear about the really bad ones and not the 1000's that have no such problems. Plus judging by the high resale value compared to other makes they can't be that bad.

I was thinking of getting one from a Nissan dealer or Private, if Private what are the bad points to look out for?

Thanks

Garry

Great thanks for the link so nothing major really. It really ticks me off that OEM satnavs are still so backward compared to a ÂŁ100 Garmin or Tomtom. If it comes in the truck though it's a bonus.

I shall start looking in earnest, anyone want to buy a 54 plate Vectra SRI :)

Thanks

Garry

Hi Garry and welcome to the forum.

Hope you have fun searching for your Nav. There is nothing better than finding yourself a new truck/car.

There are a few dodgy ones about on autotrader and the likes so if it looks to good to be true then it usually is.

Happy hunting!!!

Hi & welcome Garry.
Try looking through our 'for sale' section, some of our members have Navs on there,
at least you can go through the old threads & check the truck out.

Thanks all.

Yes I did look on Autotrader I'm getting better at spotting the "dodgy" ones they seem too cheap and stay on there for ages.

From what I can see I'm looking at about ÂŁ10-11k for a 2007-2008 with about 50k on private, Dealer would be about ÂŁ12k. Some traders try to pull it on big time one is in Stourbridge they are about ÂŁ2K+ on a Nissan dealer. The Nissan Dealer in Telford seems reasonable.

One more question. What's the best place to get insurance I tried confused.com which was a complete waste of time as you have to go for Van insurance the minimum premium was nearly a grand. My current insurance company has quoted about ÂŁ500. Considering the Navara is group 11ish and my vectra is 21 I would have thought it would have been cheaper. Most companies don't even allow a Nav reg number.

Thanks

Garry, insurance is a big talker on here, and gets everyone grummbling :pale: I don't know how old etc you are, but to be fair, going by previous discussions, i'd take ÂŁ500ish and run mate, that's not too bad, some have got cheaper, most are more :thumbright:

I agree with Tucker mate. It was cheaper to insure my Q7 than it was the Nav. I think it is because it is a commercial vehicle. Also check to see if it covers anything in the bed aswell.
NFU usually give a good quote. Try them :thumbright:

Thanks Guys,
I'm cough 40, to be honest my Vectra's insurance quote just came through and that's in the high ÂŁ400's so it's not too bad (ÂŁ500) for a 2 ton lump.

I will give NFU a go though.

Thanks again

Great feature in theory, I have never found a use for it. Anybody use it regularly?
I have to agree mate, don't use it much, unless i have something fragile that i don't want to put in the bed, then i fold the rear seats up or down and put the fragile stuff in the cab rear

Hi everyone,
taking delivery of my 08 plate Outlaw on Wednesday. In the end we got it from a Nissan dealer with the new 12month warranty they are offering. The trucks only done 30k and has had the 2nd service so that's a big bonus.

On another note as advised be careful out there. We went to look at a Long way down 08 plate with 38k on the clock from a trader in Aldridge Birmingham. It was described as excellent condition, the bed looked like someone had been shipping gravel for 3 years and the truck was just shabby. Oddly the Satnav that was described suddenly vanished as did the Full service history the truck was nearly 4k over the 2nd service. It was rough to say the least. I didn't even bother starting it up.

Just need to get a snug top now or a rear cover.

Thanks

Garry
