Hi i was having major problems with my nav cutting out and going into limp mode when i was sitting ticking over (mainly).

I changed the quantity control valve as this is a common fault but was still doing the same.

So i had it into nissan they said it needed a new pump and fuel rail as the fuel pressure relief valve had been damaged by the pump. (ÂŁ2600) for the full repair.

But to it to argylle diesels in East kilbride and they basiclly said the the fuel pressure relief valve was faulty but nissan dont sell the you have to buy the full fuel rail.

To cut a long story short ford do sell the fuel pressure relief valve for the transit and it fits and does the same job only dumping fuel at 1800 bar (according to argyle diesels).

(you can prob tell if its faulty when you take it off as it would prob come apart which they dont usually do).

Just though i would post this as i have been having problems for a few months now and hope this could help anyone in the same position.

All i need to do now is run it for a few weeks and hope the problem doesnt come back.

Fule system is DENSO who seem reluctant to reliese components parts, Nissan had to put allot of pressure on them early on to sell the SCV sepratly to the fule pump as it was idetified by allot of dealers as a common issue
Looks like ford have had problems with the FPR valve and have put pressure on for it to be suplied as a component

This information will provide invaluble for some people, although FPR valve failiures in D40s are rare it looks like to do occur
Do you know how much for sell the part for? also do you have a part number that we could give to a ford dealer or parhaps details of the engine its for

If it's just the pressure relief valve that's prematurely opening, and they charge ÂŁ2600 for full replacement,
you might want to try to just shim the valve (disregard the other go-fast goodies for now) with an extra 2-2.5mm shim (there's a stock 1.5mm shim in there), or replace the stock shim with a 3.5-4.0mm one:

If I read the OP correctly Nissan would charge him ÂŁ2600 for the "official" repair job.

I'm aware of quite a few owners over the years for whom the shim has stopped the stubborn recurring limp modes, in or out of warranty.
Nissan will basically, as a matter of policy, only replace the complete fuel system (hence the stiff price), rather than open up and fiddle with the offending part.

All people with this problem have nearly new Navaras and i doubt they will start to change stuff themselves, its Nissans problem as they are all still under warranty.

But all this info helps

Thanks

This wont solve the limp mode problem on the new trucks that seems to be ECU related, but there have been navaras in the past suffering from fule related limp mode the main culprit is the SCV but this is a close second
