I have had loads of different cars in he past but just sold my current car and my r1 to buy a navara, it's only an se model on a 55 plate but I think I got a good deal, it looks like its only been used as a family car, it's storm grey ( thinks that's the right one), has an armadillo roller shutter, roll bar, 108k miles with fsh, how much would you have paid?

Anyway a few questions,
With it being an se it obviously hasnt got the roof rails, just wondering if anybody has had experience with the aftermarket ones (outlaw/aventura style)
Also will it have an aux lead for iPhone?
Me and my wife will probably just use this one as a famIly car but me and my brother in law are tree surgeons so looking at leasing 2 new navaras
One last thing is I thought insurance was going to sting us as I'm 25 and my wife is only 22 but it's only ÂŁ55 a month with Tesco so happy days, any advice or tips for my new purchase would be much appreciated, james

Hello and welcome mate - great intro :thumbleft:

Good deal on the insurance too, as a lot of people have some trouble with that :D

PS, we do like pics  :D

Hi and welcome :thumbleft:
And yes we do like picks

Hi and welcome, have a look around the brake drums at the rear, if there's oil stains/leaks it could well mean halfshaft seals have gone, the halfshaft seals aren't so much of a problem, it's the halfshaft themselves that can be expensive to sort out

If you see oil patches around the drums it's a sign the seals have failed, if the seals have failed it's nearly always because of the play in worn halshafts.
When driving, clunking noises when pulling away or slowing down can indicate halfshaft issue, also brakes binding.

If you see oil around the drums, my advice is to walk away from it

hello and welcome mate ,,first of all mate the after market roof rails are spot on ive fitted them before and its not too bad a job (and because you live in durham mate i will lend you the tool for compressing the little nuts that come with the kit,i might even give you a hand )my oil seals went on my nav ,there was oil coming out of the brake drum but ive got a spare axel so i just swapped the parts over(not a hard job)
i wouldnt worry too much about things going wrong they are quite a tough bit f kit

enjoy

Hello and Welcome

Not if it's a standard radio. AFAIK, even the higher model ones didn't get an aux-in until a year or two ago.

I Know its not as good as most on here but I'm happy with it
Don't put the truck down! If you're happy with it, it's a good truck. :) It's one of the things I like about the Navara that no matter what level of truck you buy, it's got the same engine, 4wd system etc. so it's just as capable as any of them out there.

My last truck was an SE. I drive about 100,000km a year, so the only toy I missed off it was cruise control for the long trips.

Cheers everyone, I was hoping with it already covering 108k miles they would have been done, and I think it's a good price so if they need doing I'll just bite the bullet, if the half shafts are knackered can you just replace the bearing as iv been reading a lot of previous posts and it seems it might be possible?
