I know I've gone on & on about my bed recently but it is beginning to really get me down now.
Following on from what Diggerman said in my 'do me a favour' thread about mine being in better nick. Please have a look at thes pics i've put up.
I have a choice of 3 ways to go,
1. I get a replacment bed.
2. I can get 2 rear doors from Thorntons, have the outer panels stripped & welded into my existing bed as they follow the contour of the shape. Body shop said this is a huge undertaking & will take at least 2 days & at ÂŁ40 PH
3. Repair my own bed again.
The first pic is how it was 3 years ago with the first bit of **** sanded out (note the silver arches)
The other pics are of it early this year after I stripped it all back to find all this ****.
It was sealed but obviously not good enough, I then painted it with hammerite to subdue further rusting. I wasn't bothered about the cosmetics as it works most of the time.
The only thing is now I want it to look nice cosmetically, thats why its going in to get done over.
At the moment just above the plastic arches, it is yet again starting to come through, I can poke a key in it, only a bit but never the less.
Do you honestly think with a good body finisher it could be repaired? I would with preference like to keep as much of it as origional with its origional parts.
You guys are so much more knowledgable with this type of thing than me so please give me some advice :thumbright:
Jay
