Hi Guys & Gals

Greetings from Mallorca!

First time here. I'm usually found on old VW forums but I've just bought a Navara Crewcab after hankering after one for a couple of years. My usual ride is an old 1965 VW splitscreen crewcab pickup but its not so good over the winter due to it not being waterproof and has no heating!!! LOL. I thought the Navara would be a good choice to drag me into the modern world whilst keeping the flexibility of a crewcab

Picked up a 2006 D40 LE this week with 68k on the clock. One private owner. Its in pretty good nick except for a couple of scratches and some corrosion around one of the roofbar mounts. The paint is bubbling and I'm guessing its something to do with the mounting bolts. Going to see the dealer the PO bought it from tomorrow to see if I can get this sorted under the Nissan Warranty. Its supposed to be valid for 6 years for bodywork corrosion so there is still 6 months to go, but don´t know if its owner transferable or not. We shall see :D

This is it (excuse the nipper, he thinks its his and couldn´t get him out of the shots :D )

Will be scouring these forums regularly to get myself up to speed

Hello and welcome mate :thumbleft:

Great pics, great trucks. love the VW :D :thumbleft:

Have a go with the search function mate, as i'm sure (but can't remember   ) that rust above the windscreen is a common fault with a particular age nav, the dealer/Nissan will try to get out of it by saying it's stone chips, but i believe some have had the work done under warranty if they 'persist' :thumbleft:

Welcome Andy, nice looking Navara. Have a good trawl through the forum there is loads of good info. You'll be due some new shiney wheels courtesy of Nissans recall.

Good job you're in Spain with the Dub, our potholes and speed humps would soon bring it to a halt

Hey Mickrick, you won't believe this but almost a year since your post and it was time for the Nav's first service under my command (I've been away all summer as usual).
I haven't been to happy with the brakes so took it to the main dealer in Palma this morning in the hope they would do a proper job and check the brakes for me. Unsurprisingly, given my prompt, they reckon I need new front discs and pads and they are willing to charge me €450 for the pleasure of fitting them next Friday but at the same time they told me they are replacing all 4 wheels under the replacement scheme. Result. I went straight out and bought a euromillions ticket!

Just gotta find some upgraded discs, pads, hoses and callipers down here to be able to replace the front brakes myself. Any ideas where to try?

Welcome back

If you just want standard size discs but a bit of an upgarade, for the discs and pads go to
http://www.brakedepot.co.uk/shop/produc ... d1857.html

For the hoses, http://www.llama4x4.co.uk/

If you want new standard calipers try;

http://www.ks-international.com/index.p ... 29_223_372

Don't know about bigger brakes with exotic calipers, no doubt someone else on the forum will have that info. :thumbleft:

Thanks guys.

I've just been looking at the brake depot stuff and I reckon I'll go for some sport grooved discs and yellowstuff pads and braided hoses first and see if that improves the braking before shelling out on uprated callipers, of which there seem to be few options anyway. The only ones I've found so far are the Stillen/AP racing kits which are a pretty penny, or some mental off road racing callipers which will probably require a mortgage!!!

Anything has to be better than what I've got at the moment. I cannot believe that Nissan fitted such poor brakes on such a heavy vehicle. :screwy

Even the '65 VW has better brakes than the Navara. Mind you, with a front disc conversion, Wilwood Dynalite 4 pot callipers, EBC greenstuff pads and remote dual circuit servo, it should have

Hello and welcome to the forums! :)

Great looking pickups! :thumbright:
