Hi, I have a snugtop on the back of my D40 and as far as I can make out it is installed correctly.

I noticed a few times last year that there was water in the rear bed and also the edge of the carpet on the top was wet.

With the weather we have been having just recently, the back has been leaking like a sieve.

Before I go mad has anyone else had this problem and more important did you get a fix??

Thanks

Geoff. :!:

rear door seal is ****, also the roof bars were loose and water came in the roof - I did them up and that sorted that.
Think sometimes water gets in the side windows.
For the money they are pants

Had a few leaks on my snugtop, but sorted them myself since I fitted it myself!

1) The high level brake light had a flimsy foam seal that was letting in water. I removed the light and applied clear silicon sealant to both sides of the seal and around the aperture before refitting the light. Then as the light mountings were tighten, any excess sealant was wiped off.

2) The roof bars also are fitted to flimsy foam seals. I unbolted them, applied clear silicon sealant to all surfaces are especially around the mounting bolts and holes. Refit and wipe off excess sealant.

3) Had a leak from both corners nearest to the cab. On removing the snugtop I noticed that the top edge of the bed had a small gap at each side where the side panels join the bulkhead panel. I filled the gaps with clear silicone sealant.
At the same time as the snugtop was off, I applied sealant around the window frame, and canopy bottom rubber seal.
I then refitted the snugtop making sure is was seated correctly on top of the bed.

Not had any leaks since.

Well, apart from leaving the side windows open and using the jetwasher on it - Doh!

There's 2 holes (1 each side) in the tub on the front corners about 80mm from the top.
It's where they have folded the front to meet the side or summat like that.
Quite large, but as of yesterday easily filled with black silicon sealant :D

I have had exactly the same problems as Bob and co-incidentally used the same fixes (mastic rues OK) and agree that for the money the Snugtop is ****, but it was the only one available at the time. The interior light is useless and the rear door keeps popping open.

Regards

David

I find my snug top carpet is always getting wet around the back door, seems to come down the back window seals and strait over the tailgate onto the carpet, havent decided how to butcher it so hopefully may be a little dryer.
Had to seal both roof bars and break light also.
Nissan were very helpful saying it isnt fully water tight

  Just seen this post, i thought snug tops where supposed to be the best ones :pukel: Mine leaks like a sieve I've got water on top of the carpet under the passenger side window near the tail gate, also water is getting underneath the canopy on the passenger side. The drivers side seems quite good so i think the silicone gun or tiger seal will be coming out to try and make it better, i thought the canopy on my last truck ( proppa ) was naff but this one is terrible.

i have the alpha gte and water gets in everywhere..
