O.K fine people, i have just taken delivery of a d40 aventura. having had a poke around my first upgrade will be to loose the viscouse fan arrangement, and add a electric fan. this gives a 8-10% increase in performance and fuel all for £136 and a hours work! it should go on next week and i will keep you posted on the result.
the other benafit will be how much quieter it runs and the fact warm up time will be cut in half!!

later :D

:( how are you mounting the fan unit ?
tell me not just through the radiator using those plastic clips you get with the fan unit
or have you made a frame that uses the radiator shroud mountings or what have you done ?

I wouldnt like to see anyone here in OZ mount an electric fan that way come and drive in the outback and I reckon it would last a week if that . mind you the road in the UK are far better then ours

quite common here if done aftermarket the fans are really light.
i have fitted them to rally cars and super 7 track cars and in 15 years never seen one fall off or damage the radiator. in fact for the rally cars they are great easy to get on and off as normally the radiator is the thing that gets knakered  if an initial shunt does not do it then a stone later on will!!!!

How did you go did you end up getting the fan installed ? did you find it gave you more power at all ?

removed the viscouse unit and the shroud, you have to be careful when we removed the clutch assembly it pinged off and put a hole it the rad!!!!
we soon fixed that though.
yes it does give more power but the biggest differance is the way it pulls off, and in gear performance which i think makes it drive much better.
was it worth it?
yes i think it was for the gains i have got.
