I came back 3 time last year, it was good to catch up with family and friends, but I remember when I was over in March and September how cold I felt, the grey skies, loads of traffic and fuel costs to name but a few reason for not wanting to return… 8)

Been here 3 years now and think I have settled well…but do Miss English bacon, K-Cider, scrumpy and good strong cheddar at a fair price… :x  :?

But when i was over i did get to drive my mates Black Aventura, and must admit I didn’t like the factor fit sat nav, and I know I wouldn’t want leather here.
but it was home from home otherwise  8)
Leathers ok in the sun as long as your A/C is cold enough ,i once hired a toyota yaris out there that had leather but the A/C was poxy and not very cold, fcuking seats kept burning my back :x
The factory fit Satnav is ok but it should have post codes IMO !
But i realy like the aventura package on whole if your gonna get a nav it is the best one IMO !
How did you get your truck out there??
i didnt think they had Satnav out there anyhow ???? :? Can you buy tom toms now out there now???

do you need a sat nav?
Its an island, so you just keep going till your feet get wet!
If you had one, would it be in English, cos all the road signs and stuff would be in Cypriot?

I agree with you on the leather, and as my truck can be parked up all day in the sun I didn’t feel I would want the burnt back side…

I brought the truck new here in January 2007 from main dealer in Larnaca, and got 7 years warranty or 100,000 miles, it’s in a UK spec as such with MPH Speedo etc.

As for sat nav, your right they didn’t have, but a company now produces a mapping compatible with Garmin and recommended by Garmin, a little pricey as such, cost 150 euro but convert that by to cy pounds and its around £80 cyp and then back in to English its about £100 and not the current £150 gbp… I know CYP is no longer but I look in to the real rate and not the inflated euro rate we got on change over...

Works well, I have used it in a Garmin NUVI 660 and now on the Kenwood... Although the pronouncing of road names is not up to local standard but works for an English man...
 :D

Sorry Rob, I missed your reply

I guess your right you don’t really need one, but it does make it easier to find those hard to find places and introduces some very hand sort cuts. I know one option is that you will find water or the Buffer Zone driving in most directions for to long, giving you a clue to turn round...

It Speaks in various languages (user choice) most road signs if not all carry both Greek / Cypriot and English wording, ok it doesn’t pronounce them as locals would but perfectly understandable for a Brit.

The main problem here when trying to ask for directions is everything is done by land marks or relatives houses, so that makes things a little interesting to say the least when locating somewhere.

I love the way people drive out there carts
I once got pulled over out there by the old bill for speeding ,i must of been doing at least 100mph rushing to the airport to catch my plane back home !
The cop that pulled me over asked me why was i breaking the speed limit !?? i said i had to catch a plane and my wife sat along side me was doing my head in over being late ! he told my wife off and to stop giving me such a hard time cause it was gonna cause me to crash the hire car
He then told me to get on my way or else i would miss my plane,he was as good as gold
I love cyprus ,in the uk i would of gotten a 12 month ban for that !

whats the black thing at the top of the last photo?
Its for the alarm /remote start antenna has a range of about 1000meters (the alarm is a two way system), ie you can look at your remote to see if the car is locked or unlocked, engine running, check the temp inside the vehicle, if the alarm has been triggered if so in which way. (will post picture of remote later)

That blue truck is kitted out well 8)
Love that reverse camera !
I wonder if you can hook one up to the Aventuras satnav ????
You can garry you need one of these http://www.nav.tv/category/7/75/170 will then let you link up a DVD or freeview box as well as a reversing camera, the box on this site is a little pricey, but im sure somewhere will do them cheeper. u will the need a FM modulator to get the sound working if you add a DVD or Freeview box.

All the extra lights have the option to flash with main beam or be switched as required; the main beam flash really works when someone cuts you up or crosses last minute in front of you.
Watcha Carts
Would be interested to know how you wired this up as this is what I want and couldn't work it out myself
Any help would be appreciated
Cheers

I'm would think that it plugs inline with the screen and and radio, not really looked into it much but it will be all plug and play! A company called connects2 do a version of it also.

so it behind the dash rather than anything to do with the DVD player for the sat nav?
Yeah rob, as I would think that all it will do is interupt the video signal going to the screen when u either select the rear camera or DVD player to come on. I thing the connects2 version comes with a small row of touch buttons that u can mount somewhere then u can select what u want to have on there's prob an option to to wire the camera to the reversing lights,so when u select reverse it powers up on the screen

Cant see us getting that - can you
Is it 100,000 miles? Not 100,000km - 60,000 miles?
Hi Rob (Mowerman)

Sorry it’s taken a while to reply to this, but been doing lots of things and this kept slipping my mind.

Ok I got it slightly wrong and my excuse for that is it’s all in Greek  :D :| . The correct info on the warranty is I get 3 years for everything, plus a further 4 years for the transmission and engine, and 150,000klms, over all still 7 years. :D  8) In some respect its better than I thought.
