Now, this is the reverse of most posts regarding the Engine Management light..... Mine WON'T illuminate. :?

I don't really know where to start looking into this. Bulb in instrument panel? Fuse? Something else?

Any ideas welcome on where to start to look to sort this out would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance. :D

Well I'm sure that the light used to light up when the ignition was switched on, it doesn't now.

I might be wrong there though!

Can anyone post a pic of D40 when the ignition is turned on?
I'll check if anything else isn't illuminating, it might be an area in the instrument cluster or something?????

What type of truck is it? I don't remember whether EML comes on when keys are turned on. It's one of those things that you see lights come on and don't look at which ones they actually are.

One of my neighbours de-soldered the LED from his EML because it kept coming on and they won't put it through the NCT if the light is on! Is it possible that something like that was done to yours? :)

I think there is a way of doing a cluster test which puts on every light on the dash and swings the rev and speedo up to max etc, can't remember how to so it though.

Yeah mine comes on my euro 4 07 plate when the ignition is turned on. ill pop a picture up now if you like, give us a minute.....

That may help you Stew, it says that if there are any lights out you have to change the combination meter...........which I think means the speedo dash part??

.
You're correct. Mine is a manual 2007 d40, the mil does come on with the ignition and extinguishes itself on startup. :cheers2:

You could open up the dash and see if it's just the LED that has failed. If it is, you could replace it. You'll have to be pretty handy with the soldering iron because they are surface mount LEDs, but it'll definitely be cheaper than buying a new one.
