Hello, I am a newbee from Leicester. I have just bought my first truck, a 2008 Nissan Navara Outlaw in emotion red. I have to say I am over the moon with it so far. Only 48K on the clock and in generally good condition. Interior has been “used” but it is fixable. I want to get back to looking like new.

I have a queston though. I have seen a few before I bought mine I noticed that they all suffer from poor soft tough paint on the steering wheel switch packs. Replacements are out of the question but what’s the trick in getting the **** paint off. I want to re-finish the trim on body colour. Are there any recommended solvents etc.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and ....... :welcome Some guy on here used carbon wrapping on his. Mine is also pants but too expensive to replace

Thanks for the welcome
Here is the new toy (pic from the advert in Autotrader)

I have just had some paint mixed (A32 code) at Halfords to do the detailing on the switch packs. I will try a few solvents out then if no joy I will hit it with the scotchbrite. It will either look super cool or be an expensive mistake. Anyhow I will try and post up some pics if it works. I am really looking forward to detailing this baby.

Its booked in to have the recall on the wheels in a couple of weeks. As a matter of interest what do the new wheels look like?

Thats interesting. I thought they looked too mint? I have the recall letter and the appointment date. I will have to call the main dealer to see if there has been a screw up.

I have just called Nissan and they say that the recall is still outstanding on this truck so the wheels must be changed. Ah well Nothing wrong with getting a new set of freeby wheels.

Looks nice mate, bet your pleased. It's a shame you don't have a spare set of the olds wheels to change the, over before having them done. The ones on there are defo the news ones. Nissan seem to have money to burn........

Ok the fog is clearing....maybe. Nissan said that the wheels on the truck are the later style but still need changing because there was an issue with the batch code on the later design. They have to have the wheels that came with the truck so they can be returned and crushed.

Nah dont say that mate, it's Nissan being Nissan which = *****

obviously the recall has been done and some idiot dealer hasn't marked yours as being done, It's a pity you don't have a set of the old wheels, you'd get an extra set free.

i had those wheels on mine when i purchased it, yet recall still hadnt been carried out and they swapped them for a new set (identical to old ones and ones pictured), i believe that its a problem with the alloy they were made with within a certain period and not the generic to a style of wheels?? im sure someone will correct me if im wrong though!!!

you may be correct, that explains why the old and new 16 inch alloys look the exact same.

someone somewhere ballsed up the alloy which led to the possiblity of fractures thus the wheel becoming detatched from the truck under excessive load and eXtreme conditions lol :D

Wheels on trucks registered up to a certain date will be checked regardless of whether they are the new or old type.

All replaced wheels will be the newer type as in your pic
